Project Description
XpressWest is a privately financed project to build high speed train service over approximately 185 miles from Victorville, CA to Las Vegas, NV. Approved for construction and operation within the I-15 freeway corridor, XpressWest will operate on exclusive, new double track with no at-grade crossings utilizing fully electric, next generation 150 MPH high speed trains that will deliver passengers to Las Vegas in 80 minutes.
The project required extensive collaboration and coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Highway Administration, Caltrans, and Nevada DOT.
Scope of Services
RSE provided right-of-way and surveying services, including:

Negotiated and secured right-of-way access in agreement with Caltrans for work along Interstate 15.

Performed survey work associated with preliminary route analysis between Victorville, CA and Las Vegas, NV using GNSS equipment and Caltrans guidelines for GNSS Survey Control.

Researched existing vertical and horizontal monumentation within property vicinity.

Managed the successful implementation of a control network within two states and two separate coordinate systems (CA Z5 and Nevada West).

Surveyed data from this system in a manner that would be accepted by the NGS through its Bluebooking/OPUS Projects system.

Strictly adhered to requirements defined in Caltrans Survey Manual and Caltrans Safety Manual.
